The band was formed in 1976 in Saratoga, CA by Rich Haggett, the leader of Moondance. He is the defacto guitar-zan of lead guitar, a great bass player, and a powerful and soulful lead vocalist. His attentive musical nature is why "Moondance" has stayed on course. The band has played over 1,000 gigs in 5 countries. This vast experience has enabled the ensemble to please any crowd with their huge selection of music. From dance party, classic rock and country, to smooth dinner jazz, Moondance can deliver the sounds for any occasion. Along with Rich Haggett is a strong roster. There's Les Pierce's soulful tenor sax that is coupled with Steve Knapp on baritone sax, in the unit they call the "Atomic Horns". They are a super tight horn section. Les also plays a mean flute, while Steve holds down the low end on vocals. Don Olivet , an area favorite, is the 3rd horn when the band goes big. And what does every good band need, a great drummer. "Moondance" has the super talented James Oerman pounding those DWS into submission. He's got the groove down.Terry Shehorn adds his talent and experience to help the group touch the next level. He is a superb guitarist & vocalist.
